The Biergarten at The Germany Pavilion in EPCOT

It’s Oktoberfest all year at the Biergarten. Disney is known for creating an environment that grabs your imagination, and this is certainly the case here. You’ll sit at communal tables of eight, in what feels like the center of a Bavarian village. The cast members wear traditional German costumes. They’ve even created a skyscape with the moon and stars.

The German buffet is amazing. It features cold salads, bratwurst, red cabbage sauerkraut, pork schnitzel and my personal favorite spaetzel. The dessert bar is not to be missed! It features strudel, cheesecake, and black forest cake.

Join the party and have a glass of wine, a shot of schnapps, or a German beer available by the pint, or the liter!

Make sure you stay to enjoy the hourly show. German musicians will lead you in traditional music and toasts played on traditional German Instruments. One song is played with a pair of alpine horns. Another song is a handbell solo. There are close to 30 handbells on the table. I'm always impressed. I don't know how he does it! The show lasts 15 to 20 minutes. Get up and dance a polka if you feel so inclined.

Unless you are with a party of eight, you won’t be sitting alone at the Biergarten. Some people consider this a drawback, but I consider it a plus. Meet a stranger and make a new friend.

The Biergarten suggests you use priority seating, but I’ve gone there on impulse and only been turned away once. That being said.. I also recommend priority seating. You can maximize your time and minimize your wait.

This restaurant accepts the Disney Dining Plan. How much do the meals cost?

Lunch:

 Adult price range: $23.42-$27.68;

Child (ages 3-9) price range: $12.77-$14.90

Dinner:
Adult: $37.99;
Child (ages 3-9): $17.99

Walt Disney's Thoughts on Celebrity

"I have no use for people who throw their weight around as celebrities, or people who fawn over you just because you're famous."

I just thought I would throw this out there. He was an interesting man. Certainly one of the great celebrities of his time.

Here at Disney Without Kids we know Disney is also for adults, and we're taking the time to visit & rate the resorts and restaurants we feel cater to adult tastes. The San Angel Inn At The Mexico Pavilion in EPCOT

You'll enter an Aztec pyramid, and walk through a colonial, Mexican market while on the way to your table at the San Angel Inn. Walk down the stairs and sit in a traditional hand painted chair at your table. The tables are arranged on a patio over looking a river that leads up to an Aztec temple. In the distance you'll see a smoking volcano, and occasionally hear its rumble. No matter what time of day, it's twilight inside and the sky above has stars just beginning to twinkle. Sounds great? It is, and we haven't even talked about the food.

Choose your beverage from a list of soft drinks, specialty margaritas, or a glass of Mexican wine or beer. Tempt your self with a tostado (nacho) appetizer. The tostados are available with chicken, beef, or crab.

Next choose an entree from a list too fine to find at your local Mexican restaurant. We suggest the Filete Motuleno, a grilled beef tenderloin with beans, melted cheese, and pablano peppers, simmered in ranchero sauce.

Follow your meal with an espresso or cappuccino. For a fun after dinner drink, try the Mexican Coffee. A coffee with cafe liqueur, whipped cream, and a cherry on top. The dessert menu includes arroz con leche (a cinnamon bread pudding), and flan (a vanilla custard).

The scenery will take you to a different time and place, and the food is excellent. The only thing lacking is fast service. We suggest that you use this as a time to sit back and enjoy the atmosphere.

The San Angel Inn is open for lunch and dinner. You can expect to pay $15 to $40 per person at the San Angel Inn. This restaurant accepts the Disney Dining Plan. A priority seating reservation is recommended.

Disney for Adults

Some people don't realize what a great place Walt Disney World is for adults. Thats why Disney Without Kids is here. We're here for the empty nesters who still want to visit even though their children are grown. We're here for adults who are young at heart. You will see people ask this question on Facebook and in other forums. Is it OK to go to Disney 

without the kids? My answer: Of course it is. 

The Imagineers have designed Disney for adults. You can take a long weekend away as a couple, and you should do it guilt free. Disney is a great place for a romantic getaway.

There are amazing resort hotels, top rated restaurants, and all the theme park fun you can handle. Don't forget about golf, spa treatments and massages, sporting events and festivals. So get away without the kids because Disney is for adults!

What is the DDP? Or What is the Disney Dining Plan?

If you’re planning your first Walt Disney World vacation, or you are staying on property for the first time, you might be asking: What is the Disney Dining Plan?

Depending on where you eat on your Disney vacation, the Disney Dining Plan (also known as the DDP) can be a great way to save you money.

The Disney Dining Plan is a feature that can be added to your Disney Vacation Package if you are staying at any of the Disney Resorts. The DDP can be added to your vacation package at any time before you check in. The adult prices range from $31.99 to $71.99 per adult per night. The cost ranges from $9.99 to $20.99 per child (ages 3-9) per night. (Please Remember there can be variations in price)

Here’s how it works. You are allocated a number of meals and snacks per day. The meals and snacks can be used at any time from check in to check out. The DDP can be used at almost all restaurant on Walt Disney World property including Resorts. Snacks are things like a Coke, ice cream, etc. Meals are broken down into four categories: Counter Service, Table Service, Character Dining, and Dinner Shows.

• Counter Service- You get counter service meals at restaurants like Pecos Bill and the Cantina at San Angel Inn. Simply put, at counter service restaurants you wait in line and order meals off a set menu.

• Table Service- Table service meals can be found at restaurants like the Beirgarten and the Sci-Fi Diner. These are sit down restaurants where you will be waited on.

• Character Meals- Character meals are usually buffet style and have a variety of Disney characters in the dining room visiting every table. You can have a character meal at a restaurant like Chef Mickey’s at the Contemporary Resort.

• Dinner Shows- Dinner shows are available with the Disney Dining Plan. Dinner shows do not count as a regular meal. You must trade in two table service meals to get one dinner show. You can check out a dinner show at the Hoop-Dee- Doo Musical Revue at Fort Wilderness or the Aloha Luau at the Polynesian Resort.

Here is the breakdown of the plans and the pricing. There are three plans to choose from. The Quick Service Dining Plan, The Dining Plan, and The Deluxe Dining Plan.

• Quick Service Dining Plan- The 2010 cost of the Quick Service dining plan is $31.99 per night per adult (10 and older), and $9.99 per child (3 – 9). Per person, per day you get:

- 2 Counter Service Meals

- 2 Snacks

- 1 Resort Refillable Mug

• The Dining Plan- The cost of the 2010 Disney Dining Plan is $41.99 to $47.99 per night per adult (10 and older), and $11.99 to $12.99 per child (3 – 9). The Disney Dining plan is priced based on your travel dates, and is higher priced during peak times. Per person per day you get:

- 1 table service meal

- 1 counter service meal

- 1 snack

• The Deluxe Dining Plan- The cost of the 2010 Disney Deluxe Dining Plan is $71.99 per night per adult (10 and older), and $20.99 per child (3 – 9). Along with what is listed below you will also receive an appetizer and desert per person at table service restaurants. Per person per day you get:

- Breakfast, lunch and dinner at over 100 Walt Disney World Resort restaurants. All 3 meals can be either counter service or table service.

- 2 Snacks

- 1 Resort Refillable Mug

There are a couple of things we should point out to you. First of all, gratuities are not included. You will more often than not get very good service at Walt Disney World Resort, so don’t forget to leave a tip! Preferred seating reservations are recommended for most of the table service restaurants. Reservations can be made online by visiting www.Disney.com, or by calling 407-WDW-DINE or (407) 939-3463. Reservations can be made up to 180 days in advance.

The Liberty Tree Tavern

Hear ye, hear ye! It’s time to gather round the table for a comfort food feast. Located in the heart of the Magic Kingdom in Liberty Square, Liberty Tree Tavern is a sit-down restaurant that is truly a hidden gem.

  As you enter Liberty Tree Tavern you’re greeted by Colonial dressed Cast Members who ask for your family name and where you are from. When it’s time to be seated a bell will ring and the “Jones Family from North Carolina” will be called to be seated. While waiting let you eyes wander to the different Revolutionary themed items located around the lobby.

Designed to feel like an eighteenth century home, when you step inside Liberty Tree Tavern you almost forget you are at the Magic Kingdom. The cozy atmosphere and inviting aromas encourage you to take a break from the typical frenzied Magic Kingdom day

Lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern is an a-la-carte menu that offers a break from the counter service burgers (though they do serve them!)and chicken strips found all over the Magic Kingdom. Dinner is a set course served family style. Beginning with a salad then moving into a course of meat and sides, your dinner ends with an apple crisp with vanilla ice cream.

Liberty Tree Tavern is a part of the Disney Dining Plan and reservations are encouraged, especially for dinner.
